The Tampa Bay Lightning, who have very little cap space, already placed Tyler Johnson on waivers to free up some money. It now appears that the team won't be able to re-sign one of its top defensemen due to that little cap space.
According to David Pagnotta of SiriusXM NHL Radio, Kevin Shattenkirk isn't expected to remain with Tampa Bay.
Unless something changes quickly, Kevin Shattenkirk won't be re-signing with Tampa. He has received interest from about 8-10 teams.

TSN's Frank Seravalli reported Friday morning that the Lightning did make an offer to Shattenkirk, and while a return isn't likely, nothing has been ruled out.
The #GoBolts made an offer late last night to keep pending UFA D Kevin Shattenkirk. Sounds like he will be heading to market, but will continue to mull over a return as he considers his suitors after 12 noon.

The 31-year-old was vital to Tampa Bay's postseason success. He tallied three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 25 games played, including a game-winning overtime goal in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.
